Edition 2022
Opera Workshop was created with the aim of bringing international-level artistic training opportunities to emerging Latin American performers.
The first edition took place in Montevideo, Uruguay, from 14 to 27 February 2022, as a joint initiative between the Jette Parker Artists Programme of the Royal Ballet & Opera, Asociación InterArte, and the SODRE National Auditorium.
Over the course of two weeks, singers and répétiteurs participated in an intensive programme that included individual lessons, repertoire coaching, languages for singers, stagecraft and a closing concert. The programme brought together participants from ten Latin American countries, establishing the workshop as a regional meeting point for young artists.
The experience strengthened connections between artists and institutions across the region and generated new professional development opportunities for several of its participants. Some were subsequently admitted to international professional development programmes, while others began or further established their careers in national theatres and permanent ensembles.
